Interestingly, it was wolf spiders that started it for me (the scary go-to memory was of a parent (not sure which one) trying to shoo one away with a broom that had come out from under our trailer and the confused, freaked out spider running away from my parent and directly at a three year old me.

I don't know that I can call animals to me except through the usual way ("Ooh,pretty kitty, come here..."). I haven't tried, honestly. It seems more about recognizing, acknowledging and communicating to me, though I could be tripping over different meanings of words.
