I take your input on appropriation, and appreciate it, but I am sensitive to overapplication of a lens or set of meaning divorced from its initial context; I worry about what could be lost or overwritten in the process of engagement. All of this points to greater mindfulness on my part, both of ideas that I encounter, my own experiences and contact with otherness. I'm not very good with balancing that a lot of the time. I'm hoping that an awareness of these areas of focus is a start.

Honestly, I don't trust myself much, and journey work raises the spectre of filling in the gaps with imagination and projection. Again, a sign on something at which I should work.
