I can conceptualize costs by themselves, and benefits by themselves, but my mind balks at cost benefit analysis for fear of getting caught up in a reductionist zero sum construction that vanishes towards nothingness. I think my mind is defective.
Analysis is itself a cost, one with the potential to be limitless. You can be well served by looking at the costs, then the benefits, then quickly considering which one seems bigger, and if you still can't decide flip a coin. In the long run you'll come out ahead; action always beats indecision - even wrong action. Feedback will tell you when you've made a mistake, but not until you start making it.
