Record Store Day

Don't forget: tomorrow is Record Store Day! Support your local independent record (and cd) stores, many of whom will be holding special events. Check the website for more details, but if you're at all inclined to buy music, support the locals!

Unfortunately, I am no longer aware of any local record stores that don't suck for most or all the music I listen to (certainly for the kinds I actually want on vinyl).

Most of them (to both questions). Wax n' Facts used to be my best bet when I was buying goth n' industrial on CD, but having moved on to the various flavors of bleepy club tunes on vinyl, they really have almost nothing for me. Satellite Records, when it was still open, was fantastic - I loved that place, and the people who worked there were great! - but everywhere else I've been has been anemic at best for my particular preferences. Also, the staff usually seem to be either a) not very passionate about music, or b) very passionate about their favorite kind of music, and total dicks about anybody else's. I guess that's a fashionable sort of attitude, and if the stores actually had music I wanted and reasonable listening stations, I'd put up with it, but the combination of extremely slim pickings and uninformed and/or pompous staff make most places just not worth my while.

On the other hand, hanging out in (the right kind of) record store is one of my favorite things in the world to do. I'll go check out the ones I haven't been to and hope for the best. :-)

Supporting the locals... check your mail next week!

I don't have a record player, but you do. Yeeee. Went to my local store and got you a couple of swell shirts and a record. I hope it works. So if it has scratches, let me know.
I'm not hip enough to know if this is within your taste realms:

One of the members of this group is from Alameda (home of the nuclear wessels, ST:IV).
This what your shirts look like:

Thanks to you and Janiene for opening my eyes to the Local Record Store. Seriously, all my business went to the internet, now I'm going to make an effort to get to this store.
The guys & gals in the store were pretty cool, and were very patient with my stupid questions (ie: ummm, you guys ever hear of the Sex Pistols; had to ask, they were born in the 90s).
I saw a Clash album and made a comment that I just saw a DVD with them in 'King of Comedy'.
I get a 'huh'?
The Clash had a cameo in the Robert DeNiro film.
I guess I'm more of a visual/film kinda guy.
