What a whirlwind of a weekend. Saturday day was a mutual explosion of domestic work that I will retroactively call Spring Cleaning, wherein we worked to make every corner of our house clean, inviting, and not at all creepy or cluttered. We visited the Most Important Kitty in the World* at the animal hospital, and while he was doing better, it was still obvious he was a sick kitty. We petted, pampered, and reassured him for about an hour and then turned him back over to the excellent folks at Georgia Veterinary Specialists. We returned home feeling better about, and prepared in a lazy way for a night out, including clothing dilemmas the likes of which only fairyhead and I can seem to pull off. Eventually clothed, we hooked up with scottopic and skiadaimonos for a brief but fun jaunt to the goa-trance thing at Spring 4th, where I was much more sociable than I have tended to think of myself, in any context (I'm thinking I might need to fine tune my self perception a bit).
We did show off the fruits of our collective labor to some of the prime targets, who were suitably impressed. Alas, due to temperature issues, subwoofer love was shortlived. Thankfully, the upstairs speakers are quite serviceable, if not quite as visceral. Among some of the best people in the world, the absence of some friends could not help but be noted. Presences were invoked over both distance and climate; some presence is always better than none.
Sunday was a quiet, sleepy, groggy day of recovery and realignment, capped by another visit to the MIKitW, who was markedly improved in just 24 hours. For a good half hour of the visit, he curled up in my lap, relaxed and happy, very much his normal self. While they want to keep him until at least Tuesday to get his kidney levels back in line, things are looking good, and the scrappy little devil seems to have a lot of fight left in him.
Today marks the first day this year that the sun rose before 7:00 (6:59, to be exact). The daylight is growing by 1.5-2 minutes a day, creeping closer and closer to equinox and the explosion of heat and life that follows. I, for one, can't wait.

and bully on the good prognosis on boris. my favoritest of all cats died when i first moved to chicago of kidney failure, she was only 5, and had just had a checkup before i moved, but because she was so young, they didn't do bloodwork and i didn't know (and felt like the absolute *worst* kitty mom in the world) and didn't know what to look for.
i'm always happy to hear of healthy kitties.
and of good social grooviness of my friends.
