I want to sit in a corner of a bar and drink, and watch the section of the world that frequents bars go by in slow currents that may swirl around be, but don't pull me in any particular direction. I want to relax into the loud music of other people's choices and know that as long as I keep paying, I am welcome.

You often linger at the edges of gatherings, ready to leave quickly if you're told you're unwelcome, waiting to be cast out while hoping you won't be. You think your humor buys you entry into the circle by the fire, and you're right; the devil in you is a merry prankster, the twinkle in your eyes a sure sign the imp is about to be loose, to the enjoyment of all. Your laugh is infectious, as is your pure glee when released; people do love you for this. But you're wrong when you think that is the only currency you possess, and we are all, to varying degrees, impoverished by lesser exposure to your other, more excellent traits.
