I could learn a lot from you. It surprises me to think that, which can only indicate it’s true. Despite some very real and individually meaningful differences, there is a resonance, a degree of similarity that is occasionally acknowledged, but then mutually retreated from. Historically, the first with whom I can remember seeing similarities other than the expected or obvious, and with whom I had no large personal stake or vested interest. The moment that sly, shy, tentative smile slides into a wider, more relaxed, real one, I know I have been successful in setting you at least a little at ease, drawing you at least a little out, and in so doing, I’ve worked a degree of sympathetic magic on myself. I tend to forget this, but I shouldn’t. For this, thus far, thank you.
