Update from the supposed front lines
Nov. 29th, 2003 10:46 am"The economy is improving."
"Unemployment is down!"
"Consumer confidence is higher than it's been in years."
From where I stand, it just ain't so. Traffic is nothing out here near the suburban enclave of the almighty dollar. More specifically, we've been open for two hours now, with not only no traffic for us, but an empty parking lot for the whole complex. And yet, I feel certain that there will be reports of just how "amazing", "busy", "frenzied", etc., the whole Thanksgiving weekend has been, commercially speaking.
Don't buy it, kids.
