Yesterday at work, I think I finally broke The Subtlety Barrier:

(In an impromptu discussion about Boy George, "dressing like a girl", and makeup)

co-worker: Makeup may not signify 'woman', but it certainly doesn't signify 'heterosexual'.

YN: I don't know; I've gotten lots of interest from girls because of makeup.

me: I'm pretty sure they're not related. God knows I've hit on enough pretty boys in makeup only to hear, "Noooo, I'm straight!"*

YN reported the most beautiful deer in headlights look of shock on co-worker's face, but alas, I missed it.




*Yeah, I know pretty boys in makeup being receptive to my advances doesn't necessarily impact their "straightness" one way or another; I was speaking in understandable terms to make a point.
