further adventures with clinicians
Feb. 8th, 2006 11:22 amToday found me back at Emory for an EKG (both of my grandfathers died of heart disease in their early 50s, so it's precautionary). I had some concerns about taking off my shirt in front of strangers, particularly since I don't know if my trans status is in my records, or would be noticed if it were. Needless to say, I was acutely aware of being uncovered in front of the tech (and the observing doctor who came in, and the other tech who came in...), of sort of falling through categorical cracks. Being partially coated in cold ultrasound gel was a... unique experience. Too bad the towel they gave me to wipe it off was completely nonabsorbent and resulted in spreading the cold goo around more than anything.
