that boring chronology thing
Apr. 3rd, 2006 10:29 amThis was a very good weekend for me, the kind of weekend that makes me think, "Hey, maybe this is what people are talking about when they say weekends are good and revitalizing and stuff" (Yeah, my inner voice is that inarticulate sometimes). Saturday was lunch and shopping and V for Vendetta with my sweetie. V was much, much better than I had feared: in specific, I found Evey much more sympathetic in the movie (though I wished they would have kept her a prostitute, forced by economic policy; it would have nicely pounded another point home), further cementing my opinion that Moore can't write not-man characters; I thought the "bullet rain" was very appropriate to the scene, as well as the knife trailing (to my eyes, it was meant to imitate the movement lines in comics); I caught myself tearing up at the end, not for the silly romance part, but the mass movement of hopeful dissent (I'm a starry eyed idealist, after all).
Sunday began with sun, walking before the neighborhood was out and about, then very pleasant time with Scott, followed by more walking around Decatur, including the obligatory stop at Java Monkey, and reading by the courthouse. After a short nap at home, it was back into the sun for a couple of hours at Lullwater, and then lamb kofta with risotto and asparagus at home. I'm paying today for the physical activity, and probably for the sun (in spite of my SPF 45), and slept for shit last night, but still... I wouldn't change any of it (except for maybe the sleep).
