At a certain point in my personal history, I began changing in ways big enough that even I couldn't ignore or dismiss them.

Of the people that I've known prior to that time, almost none have maintained a consistent, close connection. Some became closer after a time apart, some drifted away, and new people have come into the mix, but constancy has been rare.
