So, really, is it possible to talk about feminism, sexism, gender and transgender discrimination and issues without using essentializing language, language that fucking makes me feel excluded?

Really, I want to know, 'cause I'm down for the fight on the side of the righteous, but goddamn if I don't fucking get sick of casual collateral damage.

I always assumed the use of 'trans' meant 'transgender', based on the larger, more inclusive aspect of that term than the more specific (and, in my opinion, essentialist) 'transsexual'. And yet, every time 'trans issues' comes up, it seems like the only ones being discussed are 'transmen' and 'transwomen'. Is it just me? Did I miss a memo or something?

What is it you need to survive, to feel like you? I don't mean food/clothing/shelter, but in an identic sense, possibly (but not necessarily) social sense. Is it mapped by positives, things that resonate and reinforce? Can it be mapped by negatives, things that make you feel threatened or contrained? Really, I want to know, as I'm struggling with a ton of this myself.
