I almost avoided discussing the NYT article on intersexuality, but I stopped by the discussion on Feministe, "just for a look", I told myself, and was... shocked, is the polite phrase, I guess, for how otherwise liberal, progressive bloggers and commentors seemed quick to capitulate to the idea of binary-only assignment (piny and R. How much anger is appropriate as a response to those with unconsidered/inconsistent perspectives on issues I face daily?
How can one live as if the world is already different when being able to interact seems to rely on seeing the world as it is?
Is it possible to accept things offered without necessarily underscoring the painful absence of those things elsewhere?

You give every appearance of knowing just what you want, and pursuing it with enthusiasm, and that's an area in which most are quite lacking; you deserve an immense amount of credit for that. I know I don't know enough to see the big picture, but I still wonder and worry what, if anything, might be missed. I hope that if it's anything, it will catch up with you positively, and soon.
