Jul. 28th, 2009 08:52 pmWe went to the Warped Tour today and saw some really excellent bands; the hip hop (The Dirtyheads, POS) and ska (Streetlight Manifesto, West Bound Train) were the clear winners for us. But, I've realized something; I hate Lakewood Amphitheater. Seriously, everything bad about the day was the venue. You can't take your own food, but the only vegetarian option was cheese pizza, and they were almost out when I ordered; they thought they were, but no (good thing I'm not vegan, huh?). Hell, the local drive in movie has veggie burgers, but not "the premier outdoor music venue in Atlanta". The venue staff were rude and disengaged. At one point, a venue worker told us we couldn't sit on the concrete curb, out of the flow of traffic, not on the grass. When I asked her where we could sit, she just looked through me like I wasn't there. At another point, we were trying to move from the upper to the lower seating section (it was all open, unassigned), but they weren't letting anyone in; it was exit only, and again, no one could tell us why, or what to do, other than "go back the other way" (which was also closed).
I fucking hate that venue. I'm sure for much of the clientele, there's nothing wrong with ridiculously overpriced fast food, and when there's only one band at a time people don't mind being herded like sheep. But that's not what this event was. I've been twice; J three times. I can't imagine they don't know what they're getting in for, so all I can assume is that they just don't care. Fuckers.
