Because I can't post it there
Sep. 10th, 2009 07:08 amLetter to the President:
I am deeply disappointed in your health care proposal. I suspect you know it will not address the core problems of US health care; it does nothing to rein in costs, but leaves the current bloated, unethical for profit system in place, and adds to their power.
I am very concerned that you are squandering your historic opportunity and broad public mandate by foolishly seeking "compromise" from the Republicans, when they have made it very clear they will oppose without question anything that looks like genuine reform. I fear that your desire to pass something, anything has led you to create the back room corporate giveaways that have come to light, despite every indication that the health care industry is only interested in profit, not human life, and shows no indication of doing anything at all to control costs.
I am watching the end of your effective presidency, all because you chose to turn your back on a good fight for the American people, a fight you sold us on during your candidacy but now show little interest in engaging. I have never been more disappointed in a president than I am right now.
Yes, the White House web form is still down. I'll probably try to send it in again later, because I bought that whole civics thing hook, line and sinker, and I'm a dumb political optimist, to boot.
