Oh, I agree that language shapes discourse, etc.; I guess I was splitting hairs in my response to the statement that French was the language Foucault *thought* in. I'm not sure that language precedes thought, but is merely necessary for the communication of said thought (though I'm a huge solipsist).

I'm looking into Alliance Francais for instruction for the Romantically challenged for the summer; maybe you'll be the lucky recipient of my kindergarten level fumblings (Mon crayon est gran!
