Driving in to work, I heard a lurid, pandering add for "The L Word", and I was hit with something. I hate heteronormativity, passionately, but I hate homonormativity, and when I encounter it, binormativity as well; I dont' care if it's Hal Sparks on "Queer as Folk", or Katherine Moenning on "The L Word". It just doesn't make sense to me that if heteronormativity is problematic that it be countered with any other normativity. Why can't people just make shows about interesting, attractive people involved with one another? Normativity itself is bad, no matter what preceeds it.
