I think the marriage thing is influencing your perspective here .. as in, her marriage.
I don't think that she sees you as boyfriend.
Her moment of noncomprehension, I believe, more arose from the fact that, in her eyes, she doesn't see how anyone could be prevented from anything because of social constraints. Think about how she so nonchalantly goes about her life. She just does what she wants to do and expects others to do the same.
