(In which the smoothest line ever used on a date is put into play)
While by this time it was pretty much a foregone conclusion (to everyone else), it still didn't quite feel like we were "dating" to me. So, I officially asked her to dinner at Harvest (one of my favorite restaraunts before, and even more so after this). I showed up a little early, and cooled my heels in the bar; interestingly, I didn't feel nervous or tense. After about twnety minutes, the object of my intended affections came up the stairs, slightly apologetic and luminous.
I'd like to say I remember just what she wore, or even the specifics of the meal, but I just don't. I remember where we sat, and that we lingered a long time over the courses. I also remember saying at some point during the main course, "I'm probably going to try and kiss you at some point tonight, so you have plenty of time to plan a graceful exit strategy if you need to". We ended up at Groove Park, where I watched her dance, and then we ended up kissing with abandon on the couches in the back; apparently, no exit strategy was needed.
As far as official first dates go, it was pretty damned amazing: from Thursday evening to Sunday evening. Things were pretty clear, even to someone as dense as I am about these things by this point.
