dream game
Jun. 16th, 2009 07:10 amWaking from a strange dream in which I was one of several "adventurers" (for want of a better term), in a strange, warhammer flavored world (aesthetic, not dualism) where ancient tech and "magic" overlapped, or was maybe the same thing (I wasn't sure). There were three "fighter" types, big hulking folks in heavy yellowish armor, and four others, one of whom was a healer type, one a scout, maybe the third a scholar, and me... an annoying, smart ass generalist (I swear it was a dream). We were looking for pieces of ancient/magical gear, and when we'd see it, or I'd think about it, I'd see what looked like a hand drawn picture with a brief description of what it was and how it worked, like stepping out of the reality and accessing a core book, or maybe the strange game asides from the Resident Evil movies.
At some point, we'd found our way inside a semi-underground complex, and the fighter types where trying to decide who got to wear these "chains" (they looked like pistol barrels on articulated arms or cables, meant to be word on the chest, ideally in a full set of four, that would shoot foes while you beat on them with something heavy) and these small golden metal gloves that added accuracy (some conversation about why the archer should get it as opposed to the fighter types hinged on "sometimes one centimeter makes a big difference when shooting (vs pounding with a club"). I wandered away after some slight about utility, only to wander back and see this crazed wizard guy with big, grey striped hair who came out of where I knew there was a secret door (no one listened to me). He was charming people with his talk, and small pieces of old technology. When he saw me, just before I could speak he pulled out some mechanical writing instrument and a pad, handed it to me and said, "...and of course, we also have something for the enabler..." When I took it, I saw a slim, balding guy with a goatee in all black sitting against the wall, who mouthed to me "you're enthralled", sort of like an explanation, sort of like a proscription, like he was the extrareal GM or something. It felt like I was effortlessly take out before I could say or do anything to break the spell/cooptation the wizard guy had done.
