I feel profound cessation of pressure at the presidential election results. While I know that way, way too many white Americans supported and voted for the orange man-baby and his policies of racism and cruelty, I can acknowledge the coalition of lefties, progressives, white liberals (even neo-libs: conditional allies at best) and minority voters did something incredible.

Looking ahead, we absolutely cannot fall into the centrist Dem trap of "it's never time to push left, we have to appeal to middle America". As AOC rightly pointed out, every House Dem who ran on progressive policies won their race; it was the milquetoast centrists who lost, because they did not offer a clear alternative. Simply not-Republican isn't enough.

The squad has doubled (or more) this cycle. With what looks like a narrower majority in the House, it is an excellent time for a small bloc of Representatives to wield influence, and drag the party left in spite of its history of rightward creep.

In Georgia, the short, intense fight for the two Senate seats is on. It will get ugly, and Repubs will certainly flood their lackluster crooked candidates with national and corporate money. I think we can match the money, but our grassroots game must overwhelm them. I think we have a solid infrastructure, fueled by progressives and community groups; we need to keep up the pressure, and ignore centrists from out of state.

It's possible, but it's a lot of work. Lefties and progressives should be ready for this, as it's all about coalitions, meetings and councils. Let's take a short break, then kick some serious ass. Our country, and our ecosystem, literally depends on it.
