I hate feeling constrained by the opinions and perceptions of others.

I hate it even more when I sometimes realize that I carry these opinions and perceptions, and project them outwards only to have them return to me.

I tend to think the only opinions and perceptions that can actually constrain me are my own. Which I hate hate hate. But at least I can work on them. (Which often adds to the frustration... ball's in my court. All the time. Sometimes I'm tired of it.)

I tend to blur the line between opinions and consequences. For the former, as much as I hate to admit it, I suspect you're right; on the latter, I wish it all flowed from me (even if it did mean I'd have to engage in a lot of long, expensive therapy).
