Days like today break my heart.

Getting ready for work this morning, I decided to wear Go by Urban Decay for the first time in a long time. The sun was coming through the blinds, and it felt warmer. I stepped outside, and the combination of scent (on me and in the air), the feel of the air and the quality of light, made it feel like spring (my favorite season), only to be reminded that it's autumn, and this is fleeting, that winter is around the corner rather than summer.

In a recent conversation about seasons, I found myself describing them in terms of a romantic relationship: spring is the first meeting, the rush and excitement where everything is new and full of promise; summer is hitting stride, relaxing into the relationship and exploring its riches; autumn is the bittersweet lingering goodbye, passion before the loss; winter is a long period of seperation, with occasional and irregular correspondence with a loved one that is both touching and heart rending.

Today, for a moment, I felt the rush of the new, the promise of more, only to be reminded that seperation is impending.

I like scented oils too

I think I'd be likely to try Pistol myself.

I am an autumnal character, saturnine and reserved. I find the self-oscillating moment of last-light before winter to be sublime, sad-happy and powerfully resonant for me.

Spring is nice, but it's often too anxious and uppity. But then again, I'm old before my time in many ways. :)

This reminded me of a foreign film I saw once in a video store I lived near. It had to do with life and love in terms of changing seasons with strong Buddhist overtones. I cannot, for the life of me, remember what it was called though.

Of course, Persephone also comes to mind, but that's just because I'm so heavily steeped in classics this semester. :)

I've always tended to be most passionate in autumn. The bittersweet tone invigorates me, often giving me a somewhat giddy "final flight of the phoenix" feeling.
