Do we always want what we don't have? I'm very fair skinned, golden haired (a bit more ashen as I age), pretty "sunny" in a lot of ways, and yet I favor blacks and darker colors, almost exclusively silver jewelry, eschew gold, yellows and oranges. (Interestingly, this struck when I was turning to leave my local deli. For no apparent reason, I locked eyes with a West Indian woman I'd never seen there before, and this is what bubbled up in my head.)

Could it be some kind of drive for rounding out a theme? Like, you know, you already connect images of the sun and moon. If you have sun characteristics, then you wear moon-color stuff as a compliment?

Or, could it just be that, no matter how 'sunny' you are on the outside, your heart is all dark and black because YOU ARE A GOTH?!? \m/

Now, I think maybe you're right, or partly right (about the balance thing, not the goth thing); I'm actively working, sometimes, to try to overcome or face things that used to be unbalanced, or knee jerk reactionary. But, historically (at least since my teens), I've pulled towards 'darkness' (for wont of a better term) and away from 'sunniness' (despite my persistent love for sappy, optimistic pop music). I dunno.
