It was probably the surprise at seeing thin sheets of ice over the bend in the creek this afternoon where I usually stop and try to see the tiny fish before they notice the shadow and flit away. Actually, I'm sure it was.

But all afternoon, I've had Shriekback's "Fish Below the Ice" stuck in my head. I haven't listened to Oil and Gold in at least ten years, probably more, but it's as strong and loud and complete in my head as in recorded version (I just checked), and I remember the words naturally and without effort. What a brilliant fucking song. I don't know if Shriekback ever got better than this, and honestly, it's enough for me if they didn't.

If you haven't heard it, you need to. If you need a copy of the track, let me know. I will proselytize for music, this song in particular. At least right now.

I love that album. It was one of my first foray's into "weird" music.

I totally believe you were already weird by then!!! :D

Looking at my ratings in launchcast, there was '92 album released (and re-released in '98 maybe) that had a couple of good songs. The CD was 'sacred city', and the song I liked was 'The Bastard Sons Of Enoch'. The rest was decent was but not great.

Apparently they released two other albums in 2007, which is new news to me.
