I don't know how to balance or reconcile what feels like the competing perspectives of "this is awful and painful" with "you did something like this, now it's your turn to take it". Is it fair, this latter perspective? On some levels, it is inescapably so. I'm not qualified to talk about larger perspectives of fairness, and am certainly in no position to talk about what is best for anyone. I don't know what's right or good or fair by any standards of which I am aware. I don't want to run, hide, distract or project. I need new ways.

For me, when I have those experiences, I take them as sort of soul-polishing moments. As long as I don't dwell on one side or the other of it (a struggle that seems to be rather difficult of late), I can come away from it for the better, knowing both sides of the equation.

...

Takes a lot of courage tho.

Sometimes I got it.

Sometimes? Not so much.

FWIW, I wish you much courage.

:)

True, but...the practical upshot is that both people involved get to learn, and hopefully grow, from a shared experience.

Best of luck to you!
